hello! thank you for visiting, my name is julie. this is my personal blog. it is a work in progress. yes, all blogs are, but this one especially as i find my voice in this medium. returning to my beloved guyana in january 2010 prompted me to launch a new blog (i had one when i was in tanzania) to share the North Rupununi with family and friends (known & unknown). i also was searching for a way to share my views on how to make this world a kinder, better place. we need more empathy & compassion, more fun, and more beauty. the question that inspires and vexes me every day is, how do we nurture both a warm heart and a sharp mind in children so that they take action to make things better?
the blog started as typical prose & pix, but free form poetry just started flowing out of me, so now some posts are in that format. i am able to write in “proper” English, but i take artistic license here, so few capitals!!! there have also been many posts on the South March Highlands issue in ottawa. now my posts are from canada. i was in guyana again from april to july (2011), but it was a rough trip so few posts.
i look forward to hearing from you. all the best!
